Read | Hebrews 11:13–16

These all died in faith, although they had not received the things that were promised. But they saw them from a distance, greeted them, and confessed that they were foreigners and temporary residents on the earth. Now those who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a homeland. If they were thinking about where they came from, they would have had an opportunity to return. But they now desire a better place—a heavenly one. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

These faithful people lived as strangers and exiles, longing for a better country. Where have you become so settled in this world that your heart has grown distant from God’s kingdom and its priorities?

Reconciliation often begins when we remember where our true home is. What earthly comfort, ambition, or attachment is straining your fellowship with God or your love for others?

Focus

Consider whether comfort, status, success, or security have pulled your heart away from God’s kingdom, your true home. Name one attachment you need to loosen in order to live more faithfully as an exile.

Pray

Pray for a heart that remembers its true home and is reconciled again to God’s kingdom priorities.
