Obeying Scripture | Week 6

Read | Mark 12:35–37
While Jesus was teaching in the temple, he asked, “How can the scribes say that the Messiah is the son of David? David himself says by the Holy Spirit:
The Lord declared to my Lord,
‘Sit at my right hand
until I put your enemies under your feet.’David himself calls him ‘Lord.’ How, then, can he be his son?” And the large crowd was listening to him with delight.

Notice that Jesus credits David's writing to the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. How does that help you understand Christ's view of the authorship of Scripture?
Focus
As you read the Bible today, ponder how Jesus trusted the Holy Spirit as the true voice behind human authors. Ask God to give you that same deep reverence whenever you open His Word.
Throughout the rest of 2026, we’ll be memorizing as a church the books of the Bible. We hope you’ll join us in memorizing them. We’ll add books to our memorization list each week. This week we're adding the Historical Books.
