Using the ancient practice of imaginative reading, read the Scripture slowly, imagining yourself in the scene as you read. Use the repetitive reading and your mental image of the events to help you memorize the passage.
1. Read the passage slowly.
2. Enter the scene with your imagination. What does it sound, feel, taste like? Notice the people, the setting, and where you find yourself.
3. Read the passage again, notice the words that are used and settle the words in your mind.
4. Make an effort to memorize the first verse of the psalm. Plan to memorize verse two next week, and add a new verse each of these next six weeks.
Ask God to help you keep these words in your memory, and add to it each week until you have learned the whole chapter.
