AUTHOR: Holy Scripture

Listen to or read slowly and reflectively:

“Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts!” Psalm 139:23

Pay attention to yourself as God pays attention to you. To do this, get into a sitting or lying posture, relax your body and breathing, bring yourself in Christ to your mind’s eye (Ephesians 4:24), and hear God speak this over you “This is my beloved child, in whom I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17). Ask God to bring to your mind the people you live with as your closest neighbors; roommates, spouses, children, parents, siblings, or others. Have you been paying attention to them?

Write in your journal the name of one person you will focus on paying closer attention to this week. Pray for them to know God’s loving attention. This will train us to pay attention to others just as God attends to us.
