Preparing for Celebration | 13
AUTHOR: Holy Scripture
Read:
Read this passage silently three times:
Ephesians 6:6
“…not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.…”
Our passage this week teaches us that Christ reigns over all earthly authorities. This means our relationship with authority, whether under the authority of others or in authority over others, must be shaped by Christ’s claim on us. He is Lord, not us.
Focus:
Remember someone who was your “boss” or leader and who made a noticeable, positive impact on your life. What was it about them? What was their leadership style? What specifically did they do that made you feel valued, seen, supported, and challenged to grow? Write about this below. (If you have a companion journal you can write about this on those pages.) On Thursday you will have an opportunity to celebrate someone whom you lead as well as someone who leads you.
Pray:
After you have spent a little time reflecting on this, take a moment to give thanks to God for being our only true King and for teaching us to lead others as he has led us, with love.
