Prayer to The Lord of Hosts | Prayer for the Church
AUTHOR: Holy Scripture
Prepare yourself for worship and the preaching of God’s word.
Read: Isaiah 9:1-7
Focus: After spending the last week meditating on Scripture that reveals the character of God, let us pray in response to The Lord of Hosts. Take a moment to pray for yourself, others at your campus, your pastor, and all campuses of Christ Community.
Pray: You are invited to pray this written prayer, or write your own prayer.
Lord of Hosts, there is no other name in heaven or on earth that is as mighty as yours.
We ask for your protection from our enemies, whether within or without, spiritual or embodied.
We know that “we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”
And for this reason we are grateful that you fight on our behalf.
Even the birth of our Savior Jesus was heralded by heaven’s armies.
As we face trials, temptations, and adversity, let us not fear, but boldly face them knowing that you are strong to save.
Prepare: After you’ve spent some time in prayer, check out the video below for a preview of what to expect in this week’s theFormed.life.

John Chrystostom | Hearing God’s Word Through Others
The discipline of study involves carving time out of our “do more” culture to dig deep into the meaning of truth. One of the best places to study what God’s timeless word is speaking to us is to hear how a Christian leader in another time or culture is processing the truth of God’s Word.
