Hope in God Most High | Old Testament Study
Written By Holy Scripture
This upcoming Sunday we will begin a new series for the season of Advent focused on the names of God. Advent is a season of hope and expectation, and as we study the Old Testament Scriptures, we will grow in our understanding and expectation of God uniquely revealing himself in the person of Jesus.
Pray: Before you study, take a moment to pray this prayer of illumination from Psalm 119:18.
Open my eyes, that I may behold
wondrous things out of your law.
Focus: In your study of these passages, consider the following questions. It may be helpful to journal your reflections.
- What are some key words or themes that you see in these passages?
- In this passage, we are introduced to the name “God Most High.” How does this text and name show us the character and nature of God?
- Where do we see God reveal this aspect of His character in the story of Christ’s advent?
- How do the truths in these passages call you to respond?
